Author Guidelines

Medzone JHS invites the submission of original research that aligns with the journal’s aims and scope. Authors are encouraged to adhere to the following guidelines to ensure compliance with the journal’s editorial standards:

  1. Types of Manuscripts:
    • Original Research Articles
    • Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses
    • Case Reports and Case Series
    • Perspectives, Commentaries, and Editorials
  2. General Formatting Requirements:
    • Manuscripts should be written in scholarly, precise English, either British or American, but not a mixture of both.
    • All submissions must include a title page, abstract, keywords, main text, references, tables, and figures where applicable.
    • Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format.
  3. Ethical Considerations:
    • Provide institutional ethical approval details for research involving human participants.
    • Comply with international research reporting standards, such as CONSORT for clinical trials, PRISMA for systematic reviews, and STROBE for observational studies.
  1. Word Count Style Font:
  • Font should be New Times Roman, 12 size,
  • Review Article: A maximum of 3500 words, excluding references.
  • Original Article: A maximum of 2500 words, excluding a structured abstract (up to 250 words) and a minimum of 20 references.
  • Case Report: Should include the following sections: Abstract, Introduction, Case Report, Discussion, and Conclusion.
  • Short Report/Special Communication: Up to 1250 words, with an unstructured abstract (up to 150 words), no more than two tables or figures, and a maximum of 10 references.
  • Letters to the Editor: Limited to 250 words for comments on articles published within the last four weeks or 400 words for other topics, including a maximum of five references and one table or figure.

Manuscript Preparation

  1. Title Page:
    • Include the manuscript title, names and affiliations of all authors, and the contact information of the corresponding author.
  2. Abstract:
    • A structured abstract of no more than 250 words should include Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion and Keywords (Minimum 3-5)  according to Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) of the U.S. National Library of Medicine..
  3. Main Text:
    • Follow the IMRAD (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) structure.
    • Ensure clarity, coherence, and adherence to academic conventions.
  4. References:
    • Use the Vancouver citation style.
    • Citations in the text should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they appear, using superscript numbers (e.g., "The results were significant.1").
    • The reference list should be in numerical order, corresponding to the citation numbers in the text. Each reference should include the following details:
      • For journal articles: Author(s). Title of the article. Journal Name. Year; Volume(Issue): Page range.
      • For books: Author(s). Title of the Book. Edition (if applicable). Publisher; Year.
      • For websites: Author(s) (if available). Title of the webpage. URL. Accessed on [Date].
  5. Figures and Tables:
    • Provide high-resolution figures in separate files and detailed captions for all tables and figures.

Fees and Submission Process

Medzone JHS maintains a transparent fee structure to facilitate quality publications while supporting researchers, particularly from resource-limited settings:

  1. Article Processing Charges (APC):

For National Authors:

    • Original Research Articles: PKR 25,000
    • Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses: PKR 30,000
    • Case Reports: PKR 15,000

For International Authors: USD 150 $

  1. Submission Process:
    • Authors must create an account on the official Medzone JHS submission portal.
    • Submit the manuscript along with supplementary documents, including ethical approval and a signed copyright transfer agreement.
    • Authors can track the status of their submissions through the portal.
  1. Fee Waiver

Medzone Journal of Health Sciences provides a limited number of waivers for authors who are genuinely unable to pay the publication fee. Requests for waivers must be supported by documentation proving financial need, with priority given to high-quality manuscripts from low-income regions. Waiver decisions are made on an individual basis, aiming to ensure both broad access to publishing opportunities and the journal’s long-term sustainability.

  1. Review and Decision Process:
    Peer Review: Medzone Journal of Health Sciences employs a double-blind peer review process to ensure impartiality.
    Editorial Decision: Based on the peer review feedback, manuscripts may be accepted, require minor or major revisions, or be rejected.
    Publication: Accepted manuscripts will undergo proofreading, finalization, and be published online.

    Open Access: Medzone Journal of Health Sciences provides immediate open access to its content, under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.
    Copyright: Authors retain the copyright to their work, granting others the right to use, share, and adapt the content non-commercially, with appropriate attribution.

As per HEC Guidelines, Plagiarism should be < 18%.
